Embedded is a photography game about journalistic choice.

Play as Henry Moris, a retired photojournalist, as he looks back on his work during the Vietnam War.

Use your camera to capture history.

Ask questions of those involved to gather quotes for publication.

See how your choices shape what gets reported.

Embedded is a game about photojournalism, editorial choices, and the ways in which the media shapes public perception. It gives you the power to determine how the narrative of war is presented in American media and addresses the moral quandaries inherent in generating news.

In the game, the player takes on the role of an embedded photojournalist covering the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Ride along with American soldiers as they carry out a mission, and use your camera to document what you see. You may witness soldiers performing acts of heroism, or refugees fleeing their homes. The images you capture portray sentiments ranging from pro- to anti-war, and are graded on their artistic composition. At the field office, choose how you interview soldiers to gather information about and attitudes toward the ongoing war. When it’s time to report back to your editor, choose which photos to submit for publication, and decide which narrative of the war you wish to depict.

Will your article support the Vietnam War as a necessary and patriotic effort, or condemn it as a haphazard and cruel action? Where will your article be published - a prestigious newspaper or a local rag? The way you conduct your interviews, the subjects you choose to photograph, and the quality of your photos will determine the article you create.

I love games that talk about difficult topics.

I congratulate those who created this game. I really liked the way in which freedom of choice is prioritized here. It gives impartiality that is rare in many games. Props to that, guys.

LOVED IT

Is the HTC vive supported

You can try out the VR version here. It hasn't been updated in a few years though and has known issues with recent versions of SteamVR on some machines, but feel free to give it a shot!

Can I adjust graphics settings? or maybe mouse sensitivity?

Working on adding those options! For now, I'd recommend playing with a XBox controller if that is available to you

Check out the latest version. You can access the settings menu by pressing Esc during gameplay.
Thanks!

Cool !

Play through with all portraits (once it uploads it will take ahawhile):

This game is insanely well made it's a vietnam war version of pokemon snap. The game does a good job of letting you portray each side of the war and picture quality does matter. The game gives you opportunities to take solo pictures of people to make achieving all the portraits easier and there's so many subtle things that point to what ending your going to get I.e. the border around your picture you select shows if that picture is green, yellow, or red and the radio knob shows if your choosing patriotic pictures anti war pictures or inbetween. The editors actions change depending on your pictures, the publishing newspaper changes based off the quality of your pictures you may get pen pal letters depending on what side of the war you report there's so many niche intricacies throughout. The Voice acting is amazing and the scenery is really nice looking at the clouds etc. Getting all portraits is insanely redundant though and there doesn't seem to be a reward for doing it you'll see all the interactions long before you get all 9 portraits. Definitely one of the best Itch.io Games I've played I thoroughly enjoyed it and have been inspired to replay through pokemon snap.
